The artwork was created by Margriet Hovens. It is a tribute to the Nijmegen dock workers. That is what the dock workers from our city were called in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The dock workers lugged the heavy loads from ships on their backs into our city. In this way, prosperity was literally lifted into our city center.
